Breakouts for Oct 21st: The first pick, ZION, is building for a base breakout ($64.38 resistance) following strong earnings yesterday. Technicals (MACD and on-balance-volume) lag price somewhat, so I would look for prices to ease to mid-$62s as today's gains are digested. The strongest of the three stocks fundamentally, probably more likely to reach its price target but may take its time getting there (12 months+). The second pick, YPNT, has been given a rough time from the folks of stocklemon. Where there is smoke there is probably fire, although it must be tempered by their own probable (short?) position in the stock (theirs is not an unbiased opinion for the good of investors). I am interested is the recent buying which has appeared in the chart which has popped the stock over $1.50 resistance. The weekly chart shows a considerable drop from its highs of $5.00+. Strength in on-balance volume and slow stochastics is tempered by a MACD trigger line below resistance (but over the bullish mid-line). Use of GTC orders down to $1.53 should be good for a fill. The third pick, ASTM, first featured as a breakout on Oct 4th. Stem cell stocks got a boost from Arnie. The heavy volume marks true accumulation, GTC orders down to $1.21 should get filled, but it is good value at today's closing price. The stock has excellent technical strength.
