Breakouts for Nov 22nd: Unfortunately, out of 32 stocks which popped up on my breakout scan very few had reasonable qualities for buying. Two of today's stocks from this scan are featured on my public stockchart list, VGZ and OPSW. The first pick, VGZ, benefited from strength in the junior gold sector. On balance volume sits at new highs with rising strength in the MACD. Slow stochastics are not overbought, but upward momentum should continue, favoring higher prices. Long term resistance sits at $6.00 from March highs, a break of which favors a move to $10.00. The second pick, OPSW, is a base breakout play, breaking from a double bottom formed in Aug-Oct. The stock ended the week over the 200-day moving average after the company reported earnings. The stock has excellent technical strength; a MACD trigger line break of resistance, a sharply rising on-balance-volume, and slow stochastics at overbought levels. The price target is based on a test of psychological $10 resistance. The third pick, IMR, recently reported earnings, which helped build the momentum for the current move, ending the week at new 52-week highs. Longer term resistance sits at $17.00 (see point-n-figure charts). It should be possible to get shares on a retest of support in the $13.90-$14.50 range, but it may be best to take a small position off Monday's open. Supporting the break in price is a MACD trigger line and on-balance volume at new near term highs, while slow stochastics are firmly overbought.
