Breakouts for Nov 15th: Although my scans turned up 37 breakout candidates, there were very few with the parameters I look for, most were breakouts from extended moves. At this stage the rally from October has topped and people should be taking money off the table until a stronger set of breakout candidates appear. The first pick RMBS, broke $18.14 resistance on almost three times average volume. This followed three weeks of quiet trading after the last accumulation burst. MACD has not yet broken to new highs, although on-balance-volume continues to lead upwards. There was no company specific news to account for the breakout and earnings were released in late October with little negative consequence. The second pick, CDSS, was first brought to my attention by Doug Theobald on Sep 29. The stock has continued to gain, marking a fresh breakout today. As with RMBS, on-balance-volume has been the leading technical indicator, breaking near term resistance. The MACD sits just below resistance, while slow stochastics remain at overbought levels. The surge in accumulation follows analyst coverage. The third pick, DRIV, first featured as a breakout on Oct 22nd. I have upped the price target from the Oct 22nd based on current price action. The company released its earnings report on Nov 9th which helped build the momentum for the current move. The stock carries the highest Investor Business Daily ranking, "A+". As with the previous two selections, on-balance-volume leads MACD while slow stochastics remains firmly in bullish territory.
