Breakouts for May 31st: It was hard to find well priced breakouts which hadn't extended well beyond nearest support. The first pick, NVT, broke $39.04 resistance thus completing a follow through from early May and earnings. Wednesday's break followed some positive comments from the company CEO. Technicals are in good shape with a MACD trigger 'buy' and supporting breakout in on-balance-volume. The weekly chart shows two levels of resistance at $45 and $53 with the point-n-figure chart on a May 2nd triple top breakout and target of $59. I am looking for a test of the stock all-time high as price target. The second pick, TTG, is a relatively thinly traded stock with a 10M float and 44% insider holding. The month of May has seen a series of buying spikes which have helped take the price up to current levels from a $8-9 range. The buying was conducted both pre- and post-earnings. The stock has seen sharp gains for bullish trend strength [+DI; ADX > 20 and rising], MACD trigger line, and on-balance-volume. The weekly chart shows a well angled ascent, supported by the 40-week MA, with no overhead resistance. The point-n-figure chart is extended with the 2007 consolidation between $8-9 not registering on the p-n-f chart. The chart also has reached its price target of $10. A steady performer. The third pick, AFL, has featured a few times since March as a Subscriber and Breakout play. Wednesday's action was a low key push above a small consolidation wedge, supported by an increase in volume but was not triggered by a company related news item. Technical strength is best illustrated by the steady accumulation trend in on-balance-volume although bullish trend strength is in decline [+DI; ADX > 20 but falling] and the MACD trigger line is easing back from a 'sell' trigger. The point-n-figure target of $76 may not be that unreasonable given the stock traded in a $42-48 range for almost two years and has only recently started to rumble once more. The point-n-figure chart illustrates the consolidation-upswing process nicely.

For those who prefer to set their own price targets the table opposite represents the frequency for a given % return (taken from maximum highs) assuming a fill at at the stated "Buy" price on the open (i.e. the prior days close). The return per trade from 5% risk is typical of what my subscribers can expect from their picks. The return per trade from 10% risk is what one can expect from my free stock picks.
