Breakouts for Mar 8th: The first pick, PPHM, gained on data released on a cancer therapy tested on mice. The news helped clear $1.44 resistance with the next test point coming at $1.70. The stock successfully held support of the 200-day moving average at $1.32 and further retracements to $1.40-1.45 should be viewed as buying opportunities. The point-n-figure chart shows a stock which has struggled to break the $4.00 mark so short term targets include $2.00, $2.40, and $2.80 resistance. A stock with potential but little current financials to back it up as represented by its lowly Investor Business Daily ranking. The second pick, IVAN, continues to work a very nice right-hand-side base on increasing volume. New highs in on-balance-volume should soon be followed by similar highs in price. The last PR from the company was a natural gas discovery announced back on Feb 2nd. The suggested stop is for a buy taken off Monday's closing price - but a larger retracement to $2.50 would not be outside the realms of possibility so patient buyers may wait for the eventual pullback before taking a position here. A 'handle' may form to the cup, and 20-25% retracements are not uncommon in such scenarios (pullback to c$2.44). A move to $3.25 sets up a triple top breakout on the point-n-figure chart with an upside target of $8.00. Important resistance lurks at $4.25. My price target is based on a test of 2003 highs. The third pick, CSG, is in the latter stages of a mature rally but sill shows longside merits. Today's new highs leave no overhead resistance and continue an ascending triple top breakout from the point-n-figure chart dating back to Nov 26th 2004. The price target for this move is $59.00, but I have set my target at psychological $50 resistance. The break came on the announcement of a partnership between Mott's and HIT entertainment. The key negative for the bulls is the bearish divergence in the MACD trigger line, although on-balance-volume at new highs keeps this rolling in favor of the bulls.
