Breakouts for Mar 17th: Three breakouts - but after today I would remain very skeptical on all of them. The first pick, GDYS, managed to survive declining sales to rally past resistance, quite an achievement in today's market. The breakout in price was supported by similar moves in the MACD trigger line and on-balance-volume. Slow stochastics remain strong supporting bullish momentum. I would like to have seen more of a handle off $10.17 resistance so keep an eye out for some sideways action here - use GTC buy orders down to $10.27 to grab shares. The 50-day moving average is about to cross above the 200-day moving average, a bullish long term signal. Today marked a double top breakout in the point-n-figure chart with a preliminary price target of $16.00. The second pick, LFB, moved on solid volume action above $18.26 resistance. It should be possible to get fills down to $18.54 as the stock marked an ascending triple top breakout with no overhead resistance. As the stock has exceeded its point-n-figure target of $13.50, the next target will be based on a projected base move of $21.90 minimum. The stock was upgraded by DA Davidson today. Earnings were released in late February with little fanfare. Supporting the price move were breakouts in the MACD trigger line and on-balance-volume. The third pick, ULTI, is a relatively illiquid stock so volatility can be expected, based on that it should be possible to get fills down to $13.79 as the stock closed above $13.96 and $14.15 resistance on heavier volume. The company announced a new collaboration with InMotion pictures early Wednesday morning. Technically, the stock still has some work to do. On the positive side, on-balance-volume trades above the 20-day moving average - although the MACD trigger line remains below resistance. Slow stochastics are overbought which should favor continued buying pressure. Bulls will be very pleased with the point-n-figure chart which shows an ascending triple top breakout as of March 14th with a price target of $21.00. There is no overhead price resistance.
