Breakouts for July 22nd: Todays huge sell off will further weaken what has been a bad time for breakouts. Todays picks managed to swim against the tide, but the question is for how long will they continue to do so? Tighter stop positioning to reduce the level of risk in each of the aforementioned stocks would be the first level of support marked on the charts. ALMI is a high risk penny play that bounced off resistance. The stock rallied in the absence of a news release. Something in the works? BGC rallied following the release of its earnings yesterday. The stock still has elements of technical weakness in the MACD and slow stochastics, although todays breakout follows on from a sequence of accumulation days in late June. Major resistance from 2003 stis at $9.75, but a break of this leaves no overhead resistance. NCX benefitted from the dual hit of improved earnings and a stock buyback program. It is another stock showing weakness in MACD and slow stochastics, but a positive follow through over the next 4-10 days should negate residual bearishness. The current breakout is resting against resistance of a well defined channel, so a pullback would likely provide a better entry price. Run a stop outside the rising channel trendline.
