Breakouts for July 14th: FAST broke upside after a couple of months of distribution (bearish divergences in MACD trigger line and on-balance-volume imply weakness). The stock has rallied strongly from a double bottom breakout (lows c$27, highs c$40) and looks to be entering the latter stages of this rally. The stock benefitted from stronger than expected earnings, so there should be sufficient positive follow through to take it to the price target. Although there is no overhead resistance one should take price targets one step at a time. Trail stops on this one, a tighter stop could be placed below $57 support for a more favorable risk:reward ratio. NARA is another cup-and-handle breakout play. The stock has shown strong accumulation since April on rising technical strength. The current rally started off $3.76 lows, so this is in the latter stages of its run before a major consolidation can be expected. The stock broke resistance in the absence of stock related news. There is no overhead resistance, so use psychological resistance as price targets, first $20, then $25. MECA gapped up on heavy volume, but closed below $6.66 resistance. For the break to be valid, the breakout gap cannot close. Conservative buyers may wait for $6.66 to break before buying, or fish for GTC buy orders closer to $6.31 support. The stock gained on a deal with the DISH network. Overhead resistance beyond $6.66 lurks at $10.00.
