Breakouts for July 13th: NCR continues to benefit from a rally started in early 2003 off $16.92 lows. It bucked the recent trend in stocks by suggesting it will report better than expected Q2 earnings. Today saw an important break of psychological $50 resistance on heavy volume. There is no overhead resistance, so let volume and price action be your guide. Likely to encounter resistance at $55 and $60 which in the current market may be more prudent to take partial profits. Note weakness in technicals, especially slow stochastics. There does exist potential for a bull trap, which would be confimred on a close below $50.00 - perhaps a better place for stops? IPSU completed a successful test of its 40-week/200-day moving average in late May, resulting in the current rally. Overhead resistance lurks at $15.00 and $15.75, but an upside break of these levels sets psychological resistance as price targets (ie. no overhead resistance). A more conservative stop may be placed on loss of $13.85 support. AEC nicked above near term resistance of $8.48 (now support) on heavy volume. There is still plenty of overhead resistance at $9.23-9.28 which may take a while to break. Beyond that there is no resistance. Sub-$10 price target reflects possible overshoot of $9.25 resistance on momemtum, but likely to be pegged back at psychological resistance of $10.00. Conservative players may decide to take profits at $9.18. The stock had announced a dividend to stock holders on books by July 15th - any relevancy? Hard to tell.
