Breakouts for Jan 30th: The first pick, AIX, recently featured as a breakout for December 20th and again for January 12th. Friday's breakout completed its 5-month consolidation base and sets up a projected base target of $21.60 (but I will use whole number resistance of $20 as my price target). Former Merrill Lynch Senior executive, Robert Mulholland joined the company board which helped push the breakout. Technicals remain strong with the earlier breakout in on-balance-holding holding and new near term highs in the MACD trigger line. The stock continues to ride a double top breakout from December 2nd with a price target of $27.00. Weekly chart shows strong accumulation with no drop in volume (yet). The second pick, HLT, featured for December 30th, completed an ascending triple top breakout on the point-n-figure chart Friday. It has exceeded its original price target, so I am using the projected base target to calculate a target. On-balance-volume shows strong accumulation although the MACD remains in consolidation. Friday's news included the UK shareholder approval of the British Hilton group sale, including a time-share feature in a Fool.com article. The third pick, SWS, is a featured Subscriber pick for December 19th. In mid-January the company announced a new Vice President of Commercial Lending. This was followed by a MACD trigger 'buy' and an on-balance-volume breakout. The point-n-figure chart shows new three year highs which sets up the point-n-figure target of $38.50. I am looking at projected base target. Ride the trend.

For those who prefer to set their own price targets the table opposite represents the frequency for a given % return (taken from maximum highs) assuming a fill at at the stated "Buy" price on the open (i.e. the prior days close).
