Breakouts for Jan 25th: Only two breakout candidates for tomorrow. The list of suitable candidates is shrinking, eventually it will reach levels of early August when there were very few breakouts, but the majority of them were well positioned to take advantage of the subsequent rally. The first pick, GMRK, is in the oil sector which has seen some mixed action. There are two buy areas for this stock: a pullback to support at $22.75, and at the rising trendline support line illustrated from $13.61 lows. Technicals are led by a MACD trigger line over the bullish zero line, a breakout in on-balance-volume, and rising slow stochastics. I have set the price target at psychological $30 resistance. The stock's point-n-figure target is $25.00. The second pick, LM, was one of the few positive newsworthy stocks today as the company released a strong earnings report. The stock gapped up and closed over resistance to make new all-time highs. The point-n-figure price target is $91, but I have set the price target at $90 psychological resistance. Supporting the move in price is a breakout in on-balance-volume and a bullish crossover in the MACD trigger line as it holds above the bullish zero line. The main cautionary note is a bearish divergence developing in slow stochastics. There is no candidate, for the third pick.
