Breakouts for Jan 21st: The first pick, DCTH, is building towards a presentation at the Jan 27-29 Gastrointestinal cancer symposium. If recent buying spike are to be believed then expectations on these preliminary results runs high. It should be noted the company is reporting on the effects of treating 15 melonema patients, a very small sample - so it will be difficult to get a true gauge of its Delcath system. Technically, the stock is well positioned, with a 'buy' signal from the MACD trigger line, a breakout in on-balance-volume, and a slow stochastic in the upper bullish range (and rising, but not yet overbought). The price target is drawn from a base projection. The second pick, FFIV, reclaimed early January losses after reporting year-on-year, and quarter-on-quarter increases in revenues. GTC buy orders down to $49.25 can be used to buy or add to a position. Technically, the stock took one step too far into the bear column, but is recovering fast. The stock is at all new time highs and has achieved its point-n-figure target, so I have set psychological resistance as the next target ($70). The stock has the strongest Investor Business Daily ratings. The third pick, MACR, caught many shorts with their pants down as the stock posted 49% gains in Q3 and raised revenue guidance for Q4. If looking to buy I would take a small position from Friday's open and use GTC orders down to $29.00. Technically, this stock is working its way out of an oversold condition. The technicals have the most room for gains, the slow stochastic in particular. A crossover in the on-balance-volume 20-day moving average, and a MACD trigger line "buy" signal favors the bulls. Today also marked a triple top breakout on the point-n-figure chart with a price target of $42.50 (I have set my price target below $40).
