Breakouts for Jan 12th: The first pick, IMAX, benefited from an upgrade from Harris Nesbitt. It was a gold member feature on Oct 29th. Gold members should note the higher price target and stop price. The stock has maintained excellent technical strength, especially in the light of recent profit taking. Expansion into new markets, China and Mexico, including its movie conversions have helped propel this to current levels. Point-n-figure charts show a price target of $17.25 with no overhead resistance beyond $10.00. The second pick, SWB, burst past resistance on massive volume. An afterhours announcement of a new line of credit was the only news for the day. The break of price resistance is supported by breaks in on-balance-volume and MACD trigger line resistance. I have set the price target at the next resistance level from point-n-figure charts. The third pick, VIVO, is a fundamental leader, it is ranked 1st of 139 stocks in the Medical-Products sector. It is relatively illiquid, but recent volume has strongly favored the bulls. The technical picture is also very strong - note how slow stochastics have remained over 50 over the last 6 months (very bullish). The MACD trigger crossover is a "buy" signal which is supported by a break of resistance in on-balance-volume. The most recent news was a downgrade in December.
