Breakouts for Feb 28th: The first pick, BEAV, featured as breakout pick for July 26th and a subscriber swing trade for August 5th. The stock continues to gain analyst coverage, DA Davidson was next to add its name to the list. The stock closed just over $12.00 resistance as part of larger bullish ascending triangle (see weekly chart), and is good value at Friday's closing prices. The 200-day moving average has been excellent support. The short term price target is $16.99. A move to $12.50 triggers a double top breakout on the point-n-figure chart with a preliminary price target of $16.50. The company had reported a narrower Q4 loss on Feb 16th. The second pick, SHFL, first featured as a gold member play for Oct 22nd. The company has scheduled earnings for Mar 3rd - so cautious buyers may only want to dip the toes before jumping in with two feet. Friday's break ends a three month consolidation with a short term projected base target of $38.00. A move to $33 triggers a double top breakout on the point-n-figure chart and has a preliminary price target of $55.00. I have set the price target at $50 psychological resistance. An earlier bearish divergence in the MACD trigger line was breached, but until there is a new high in the MACD trigger line a larger bearish divergence can still develop. Rising on-balance-volume and overbought slow stochastics marks reasonable bullish strength. The third pick, PQE, shows a cup-and-handle pattern on the weekly chart (click chart to access Stockchart.com Gallery chart feature). The stock was upgraded on Friday by CL King following Thursday's after hour release of earnings. Earnings were the trigger to complete the handle. A projected base target for the cup-and-handle is $40.83. The point-n-figure chart marks a preliminary price target of $48.00 with resistance at $43.00. My price target is set between the two targets. On-balance-volume continues to rise sharply as slow stochastics remain overbought. The MACD trigger line has yet to signal a 'buy' but is well above the bullish zero line.
