Breakouts for Feb 25th: The first pick, ANIK, featured on many volume scans and blogs today on the release of strong earnings. The base breakout of $10.40 resistance (now support) was supported by new near term highs in slow stochastics and the MACD trigger line, and new highs in on-balance-volume. The stock corrected off a resistance line marked from October and the 200-day moving average at $11.99. Intraday - there are gaps to fill at $11.00 and $9.40 - but GTC orders between $10.50-$11.00 should be used to acquire, or buy, shares. The point-n-figure chart shows price at $13.00 trendline resistance with a preliminary bullish objective of $21.00. The second pick, IDBE, is another base breakout play. The point-n-figure projection remains $6.00 and will take a move to $20.00 to negate (reversing the current correction into a bullish ascending triangle breakout). The company should benefit from Chiron's woes and potential loss of faith in its flu vaccines. Technicals continue to improve: overbought slow stochastics favors a continuation of the current rally. Look to accumulate as the right-hand-side base develops, and eventually breaks, $19.00. Conservative longs should wait for a break of $19.00 before buying. The third pick, SFCC, is well priced at today's closing price. The company reported a 46% increase in net revenue. Today's volume breakout completes a (low volume) consolidation. Technicals breached prior resistance ending bearish divergences of the MACD trigger line and slow stochastics, while on-balance-volume ended the day at new highs. The point-n-figure chart shows a powerful uptrend with the stock at multi-year highs. The preliminary upside target is $68.00 but I have set a target at whole number resistance of $60.00.
