Breakouts for Feb 23rd: The first pick, GEOI, broke resistance in the absence of company related news, supported by a similar breakout in on-balance-volume. The current move should be good to test $6.22 resistance with potential for a follow through to $9.50. A move to $6.50 sets up a double top breakout on the point-n-figure chart. The second pick, VCI, broke a 15-week consolidation to the upside, but sits just shy of a 52-week closing high. The technical picture is slowly improving: the MACD trigger line is over the bullish zero line although on-balance-volume and slow stochastics remain below resistance. The point-n-figure chart show an upside target of $49.00 with resistance at $41.00 and $46.00. The stock gained on a strong Q4 results. The third pick, EDVO, is an OTC BB play. The stock is an intermittent PR releaser, the last of which was released on Feb 9th. The technical picture is the strongest of the three breakout picks for Feb 23rd. New highs in on-balance-volume, new near term highs in the MACD trigger line and overbought slow stochastics favor a continuation of the rally to test the next level of resistance. The weekly chart may make some wary considering the stock traded at $0.02 in September 2004. Point-n-figure chart projects an upside target of $6.69.
