Breakouts for Feb 16th: The first pick, IM, started the day with a downgrade by Prudential, after the prior days' earnings report. The analyst hit failed to dampen bullish enthusiasm, and the stock closed strong, registering a breakout. The bullish move followed an earlier breakout in on-balance-volume, as both MACD, and slow stochastics gained. A move to $21 will trigger an ascending triple top breakout on the point-n-figure chart, and bring the chart target of $27.50 nicely into play. The latter target corresponds to the projected base target for the year long consolidation. The second pick, INHX, moved counter to the 'Death Cross' in the 50-day/200-day MAs, blowing past resistance. This drug development company has little in the way of revenues, so I would view this as a short term play to reach a projected base target. The breakout in on-balance-volume, and MACD 'buy' trigger, hands the momentum to the bulls. But the point-n-figure chart shows the double bottom breakdown from December 1st as dominant. The $5 price target will be of little comfort for the bulls. The third pick, PENN, completed a 3-month consolidation on heavy volume as Q4 profit more than doubled. The break in price was supported by a similar move in on-balance-volume, and the MACD. Wednesday's gains also sliced through the 50-day and 200-day MAs, as those averages work on a bullish 'Golden Cross'. The days action also registered as a double top breakout on the point-n-figure chart with a price target of $46. The long term chart looks very healthy, as the stock works itself out of a year long base. A good accumulator/investors play. My price target is drawn from a projected base move.
