Breakouts for Feb 10th: The first pick, PLA, featured as a breakout play for Nov 3rd. The company posted a profit for Q4 and maintained 2005 earnings and revenue guidance. I have raised the stop and target price from November. Note the positive test of support in November which led to the bounce that produced today's breakout. Watch for a test of new support of $13.00 to confirm the breakout. Technicals on the rise - the MACD trigger line is above the bullish zero line although on-balance-volume has yet to break resistance, even after today's big gains. The price target is based on the point-n-figure target of $19.50. The second pick, SBTV, featured as a breakout play for Oct 5th. The stock successfully completed two tests of support at the lows of the second of the three candlesticks of the 'three white soldier' combination - this was a suggested area for GTC buy orders from October. Today the stock broke a 6-week congestion on heavy volume. Given the volatile nature of this stock it should be possible to get fills in the high $38s, low $39 area. The company announced plans to buy a Nordic pay-TV provider for $345m. The weekly chart shows a decent cup-and-handle pattern supported by an ascending triple top breakout in the point-n-figure chart for a move to $55.00. The third pick, CAKE, posted an increase in Q4 profits. The stock first featured as a gold member play for Oct 21st. Gold members should note the raised stop and target price following its split-adjusted price. Technicals continue to improve. The MACD trigger line is back above the bullish zero liine, while on-balance-volume sits just below resistance. Slow stochastics dipped out of overbought levels, but are above the bullish mid-line. The weekly chart shows a cup-and-handle supported by a double-top breakout in the point-n-figure chart. The projected upside target is $48.00.
