Breakouts for Dec 30th: The first pick, CVNS, pushed to new highs following on yesterday's close on new highs. The company had released no news to account for the breakout. GTC orders down to $14.15 should be good for fills. Technicals improving although resistance is still to be breached in the MACD trigger line or on-balance-volume. The price target is based on the point-n-figure target. The second pick, CPTH, is a momentum play if this CBS marketwatch article is to believed. The last news the company released was its financials on Nov 20th, with a non-too pleasing quarterly report to boot. Not one to hold for the long term, but that doesn't mean money can't be made here. One for the nimble. The "E" Investor Business Daily rating says it all. The stock traded heavy volume past resistance signaling a "buy" in the MACD trigger line with new highs in on-balance-volume. Slow stochastics have remained bullish since the middle of November but have yet to reach overbought levels, favoring further upside. The third pick, FNIX, is a Bulletin board penny play - again, high risk and not ranked by IBD. For the purpose of disclosure I am holding a position in this stock with the intention of holding to its point-n-figure target of $4.31. However, new buyers should be looking to take this one step at a time, and resistance at $0.29 resistance is the first target to aim for. Recent stock volume follows deals with T-mobile and Duke Power helped push the stock over $0.175 resistance. Slow stochastics are rising with new highs in on-balance-volume supporting the break in price. Finally getting the action I wanted much earlier.
