Breakouts for Dec 2nd: The first pick, AFCI, pushed over resistance on news of a completed merger with Tellabs. Over the course of November and early December the stock has broken a declining trendline, and marked a new reaction high. Price action has been supported by a breakout in the MACD trigger line and overbought slow stochastics (= strong bullish momentum). The stock still has plenty of supply to chew through on the way to its price target, so don't expect a rapid advance here. The second pick, ARRS, is showing a very nice base breakout from the bottom of a larger base (see weekly chart). The daily chart shows a decent cup-and-handle pattern with a projected target of $8.56 but I think there should be sufficient momentum to push this to $10.00. I have set a compromise price target based on weekly resistance. There was no company specific news released today. The third pick, NCRX, gained on news of a potential takeover bid by Omnicare at $30/share. Technical strength suggests there is more value to the stock than this offer would suggest. Point-n-figure charts project a target of $62.50, but I have estimated a target based on the depth of the current base. Looks a relatively safe bet with a potential $30 bid on the table, but this should never excuse proper due diligence.
