Breakouts for Dec 20h: A couple of former breakouts made continuation moves today. The first pick, ITRI, featured on June 7th but hit its stop before basing again. The stock has been very news shy since November. However, this has not stopped continued accumulation on rising technicals. Given the stock failed its last breakout cautious buyers may wait to buy a break of the 52-week high at $24.65. The price target is drawn from point-n-figure projections. The second pick, MATR, featured as a breakout on July 21st, again on Oct 14th, and still remains in play. I have kept the original price target, but have raised the stop price. The GTC buy zone is the best area to look for fills. Friday's move held in the face of lowered outlook. The substantial pullback in the MACD trigger line reversed to a buy signal. On-balance-volume remains the most bullish indicator here. Slow stochastics are above the bullish mid-line. The third pick, VICR, also rallied in the absence of company specific news. For a stock emerging from its base it has excellent technical strength. Buy orders into the low $12.00s should get fills if market weakness from the tail end of last week spills over to this week. Point-n-figure charts project a price target of $21.50, but I am aiming for the nearest point of resistance at $18.50 as the likely stalling point for the rally.
