Breakouts for Dec 14th: The first pick, NGEN, featured as a gold member play on Dec 1st. Gold members should note the raised stop and target price. This has the strongest technicals of the three picks today with breakouts in the MACD trigger line and on-balance-volume. I would use GTC buy orders down to the highs of the pennant to add, or take position, as today's 27% move is too extended to be buying a full position. There was no news to account for the move. The break of $7.39 marks a new reaction high, also note how the point-n-figure charts show a breakout from trendline resistance - this is long term bullish. I have used point-n-figure price targets here. The second pick, NENG, marked a continuation of its recent consolidation, but still has to break larger resistance at $2.87. There was no news to account for today's volume surge, but the breakout in the MACD trigger line and rising slow stochastics favors continued strength. The stock is working its way through a base (see weekly chart) so buying here would make a good long term hold. The third pick, ORCL, is hardly a surprise move - but what is important is its future potential. If looking to buy today's breakout I would look for a retracement down to the $13.60 level to buy. Point-n-figure charts show resistance nearby at $15.00. A break of this sets a price target of $20.00 set in 2001. Technicals are strong, on-balance-volume at new highs supported by bullish momentum (slow stochastics) and a buy signal from the MACD trending indicator.
