Breakouts for Dec 10th: The first pick, BGP, enjoyed some heavy accumulation in the absence of recent news (although it did feature last Friday in the Wall Street Online edition). The breakout will likely confirm $23.60 support, so GTC orders down to $23.80-$24.10 should be good for fills over the coming days. A move above $25.00 will break a resistance level dating back to 2001. Point-n-Figure charts suggest a target around $44.00, but psychological resistance at $30 will likely be its first stumbling block. The second pick, GAP, rallied on cost cutting plans. The breakout move is too extended to be buying off Friday's open, but GTC orders down to $8.40 should be good for fills (intraday support lies at $8.53 and $8.34). The stock has strong technicals; the MACD marks a strong buying pressure (the upper histogram is well above the mid-line), and on-balance-volume is at new highs. Slow stochastics are firmly overbought. The third pick, TCOW, is a high risk bulletin board play. There is an interesting summary on CBS Marketwatch; "a profitable company for eight quarters and no debt". The stock shows good technical strength, the only downside is the lack of liquidity. Point-n-figure charts have a price objective of $1.88.
