Breakouts for Aug 26th: The first pick, OTTR, clearly surpassed $29.73 resistance in the absence of company specific news. The company had filed its 10-Q on August 9th so one shouldn't expect too many surprises over the coming days. The stock supports a healthy 3.9% dividend yield (next payment due on September 10th according to Yahoo!) with the potential for additional income by selling covered calls. The point-n-figure chart shows a triple top breakout from July 11th with an upside price target of $39.00. A move over $32.00 will put this at new 5-year highs which should release the bulls. A reasonable Investors Business Daily ranking makes this a solid all round play. GTC buy orders down to $29.90 may be sufficient for fills here. The second pick, RSYS, featured earlier for December 9th, had also filed its 10-Q on August 9th. The stock still has some important resistance at $19.00 to break before it can develop a test of 4-year highs at $24.85 (it fell just shy of this close on Thursday). The point-n-figure chart does show a double top breakout from July 6th with an upside target of $27.50. The stock doesn't pay a dividend but does sell options which can be used to generate income. Technical strength is firm with a breakout in on-balance-volume, and a "buy" signal in the MACD trigger line while above the bullish zero line. The third pick, LKQX, is a current Gold Member pick from July 26th. The stock supports the strongest Investors Business Daily ranking and is slowly gaining analyst respect with recent coverage initiated by BB&T Capital Markets. Technicals are also good with a strong "buy" signal in the MACD trigger line, overbought slow stochastics, and a pending breakout in on-balance-volume. Thursday marked an ascending triple top breakout on the point-n-figure chart which has surpassed its suggested price objective of $30.50. I am looking for a test of psychological $50 resistance.
