Breakouts for Aug 23rd: The first pick, EMMS, jumped on plans to sell 9 of its 16 television stations. The breakout looks too extended in the short term to be buying but pullbacks to $22.16 are worth nibbling using my suggested stop for protection. The MACD trigger line is close to new highs as on-balance-volume rolls in a broad oscillation. I have set a modest price target close to the 2003 high - beyond that resistance can be found at $31. The point-n-figure chart shows a double top breakout from July 25th with a price target of $37.50. The second pick, SYNM, was a Gold Member pick for February 16th which has managed a delayed follow through. News of a subsidiary drilling in Nigeria helped push the stock out of its recent consolidation. Results from this drilling are not expected until next month. The company had reported a narrower earnings loss on July 26th. A move over $14.45 will set up a projected base move to $22.00. A move to $14.50 will be good enough for a double top breakout on the point-n-figure chart. There is no resistance beyond $14.45. Technicals remain favorable supported by today's resistance breakout in on-balance-volume. The third pick, TWTI, received a solid volume boost following FDA approval for its Pharmacogenetic test. Watch for follow through upside on Tuesday to test $5.97 resistance. Technicals show moderate strength with the MACD trigger line above the bullish zero line and on-balance-volume again above its 20-day MA. Slow stochastics could be stronger but there is room to reach overbought levels. The point-n-figure chart is neutral. A move to $5.50 will trigger a double top breakout but this will put it within 40 cents of the 200-day MA - a likely resistance point.
