Breakouts for April 30th: The first pick, AKS, is a current Breakout feature for March 21st and January 24th. Friday's action closed with a bullish engulfing pattern although the significance of this pattern is reduced by overbought conditions in stochastics (bullish candlesticks like these work best on oversold stochastics). The prior 3 days of relative tight trading is an excellent opportunity to raise stops. Technicals continue to strengthen with new reaction highs in the MACD trigger line and a breakout in on-balance-volume. Stochastics have been unusually buoyant having held overbought levels for the best part of four months. The Street.com feels steel stocks are a little too hot and are suggesting a call-credit spread for AKS. Given the tight action - a $32.50 strike call/put spread might be a better option strategy. The point-n-figure chart is in serious need of a pullback and is close to reaching its target of $34. The second pick, CPX, is a Subscriber pick for April 12th. Thursday's breakout on earnings were neatly support by Friday's doji; the doji provides a marker for a stop on on a new position and protect profits from the April 12th play. On-balance-volume shows very strong accumulation with the MACD trigger line on a resistance breakout. The April 12th ascending triple top breakout holds in the point-n-figure chart, as does its target of $26.50. I have raised the target for a test of $30. The third pick, GCOM, cleared $12.02 resistance in the absence of company specific news, although earnings are scheduled for May 11th. Patient buyers may find fills using GTC buy orders down to $12.11. Technicals are modestly bullish although trend strength has been lack luster and neither on-balance-volume nor the MACD trigger line have breached resistance levels. The point-n-figure chart holds to a September 26th triple top breakout and is only $0.27 shy of its target of $13.25. I am looking for a little more from the stock.

For those who prefer to set their own price targets the table opposite represents the frequency for a given % return (taken from maximum highs) assuming a fill at at the stated "Buy" price on the open (i.e. the prior days close). The return per trade from 5% risk is typical of what my subscribers can expect from their picks. The return per trade from 10% risk is what one can expect from my free stock picks. Returns will be higher on fills below my "Buy" price
