Breakouts for April 17th: The first pick, SCS, broke $18.19 resistance in the absence of company specific news. This followed an earlier resistance break on February 7th. Accumulation continues its upward trend (on-balance-volume), but it is tempered by a bearish divergence in the MACD. The higher stop protects profits from the two earlier plays (December 5th and February 7th). The point-n-figure chart is sticking with its quadruple top breakout from August 1st with a price target of $32. The second pick, TGB, has continued its strong performance since it first appeared as a breakout for January 3rd (up 135% as of Friday's close). Friday's (bearish) harami is an opportunity to raise the stop price at overbought conditions. Bulls still hold the edge as measured by new reaction highs in the MACD and a resistance breakout in on-balance-volume. I have raised the price target in line with a test of psychological $5 resistance. The point-n-figure chart is holding to a double top breakout from February 6th with a more ambitious target of $7.38. The high volume is a measure of speculation, thereby increasing the importance of protecting profits. The third pick, SUMT, recently featured as a Subscriber pick for April 7th. The swift move to $6.00 has congested into a small pennant, but a retest of $5 cannot be ruled out - so this shouldn't mean giving up profits if this was to play out, hence the new higher stop price. Larger resistance lurks in the $6.25-6.50 range from early 2005 - another reason to be cautious. The point-n-figure chart is holding to a price target of $9.75 as part of the April 7th quadruple top breakout. Technicals remain bullish, led by new highs in the MACD. Earnings are scheduled for May 2nd.
